Yesterday after a long day of work I decided to drive up north and I ended at my favorite restaurant I did ask this time for Tacu Tacu filled with seafood and I can tell you that was delicious that dish is a combination off beans and rice with species to eat this dish you must like all the ingredients. It located on a very tiny mall but I don't go for the location I am going FOR THE FOOD

Very delicious Peruvian seafood. Or at least that is what I was looking for. We have the ceviche and the grill seafood platter with Peruvian spices.

Small authentic Peruvian restaurant located in an unassuming strip mall on Atlantic blvd, I no longer eat seafood so I was hesitant since most of the good reviews are based on the Ceviche and seafood, but I was very happy with the Lomo Saltado that I ordered (Peruvian style beef stir-fry). We went for a late dinner on a Friday night, there was only one other couple dining at the restaurant, we were greeted and shown to our table. The server was friendly but not very attentive, I struggled to get his attention several times to get wine refills. Back to the Lomo Saltado, it was excellent, a generous portion, quality meat, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked, I have been to Peruvian restaurants that couldn't cook rice correctly so I like to acknowledge those that do. The ambiance is a bit lacking, the lighting is harsh and takes away from the atmosphere, which could definitely use improvement. And maybe our server was also inattentive since it was a late night, but it took away from the experience. Since our food was very good I would definitely return and hope that service is better next time around, I would also like to try the desserts, they looked amazing. Food 4 stars Service 2.5 stars Ambiance 3 stars

My sisters and I grew up in Lima so when Mom told us she had discovered Malulo's, we went right over. The other reviewers are right: don't let the sad little strip mall location put you off. This is as authentic Peruvian cuisine as you can hope to find outside of Peru itself. The ceviche (they have an impressive variety) is as good as any we ever ate seaside in Lima, and the causa (lemony mashed yellow potatoes with a variety of fillings) is actually *better* than any we had "down home." The servings are overly generous so we usually share an order between two of us. You cannot go wrong at Malulo's! (TIP: If you haven't had one before, try a pisco sour. Delish!)

Everything was perfect. The ceviche was fresh and had the right amount of lemon. The jaleo was extremely crispy. I liked this place very much. The decor is more on the casual side.

So we went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon the day after Peruvian independence day so it wasn't too packed because as the waitress explained people were still nursing their hangovers. We arrived around 2 pm and the place is rather small and intimate. It is a family owned an operated establishment and the food was reminiscent of good home cooking. As per the reccs of other reviewers we had the ceviche mixto. I love empanadas and ordered one with seafood as well. It was lightly dusted with powdered sugar which was and odd but good combo that made it even more of a treat. Seeing as to how I've yet to venture to Peru I asked the waitress if there was anything not to be missed on the menu, she reccomended a yuca and seafood app whose name escapes me but we chose the 1 with crab and it was delicious. If you are not too hungry the apps will suffice I was full after sharing 3. In terms of drinks we sampled the peruvian beer which in my opinion needed a lime, followed by the local drink which tasted like ginger cranberry blend, then ventured with Inca Cola and finally concluded our beverage adventures with some Sangria which was far from the best but we finished it so it was alright. On to the main course I ordered the paella type dish which my bf said was a hot rice version of our ceviche, despite that I thought it was very good. The man wanted meat and had the Churrasco with egg and rice and plantains and he didn't love it. So lesson learned stick to the seafood and appetizers but all in all it was delicious and I would certainly return!

The food was delicious. The atmosphere is a very simple family run kinda place. The service was very friendly. Would gladly return again.

All-in-all, a good solid dining experience. Peruvian seafood specialties. Very popular with that community, and a real find. Fresh, fresh fish, and prepared in many different ways. Large servings, so go hungry! Very plain decor, but wonderful service. Try to go later than 8, as the place is pretty empty prior to that. Have been back once, and will go again. Malulo's deserves your attention. (Found it on Restaurant.com , which had a special coupon for $25 off. Coupon cost me $4)

Worst service ever the girl who serve us was very rude didnt even ask how was our meal. She gave us an attitude the whole time we was there.. The food was disgusting I order aji de gallina and it was dry and cold i didnt even finish it.. They very rude and want to take the tips out if the bill. I refuse to give her. Tips so they took them out. I will never go to that place. Nasty attitude nasty food and nasty service.. This place dont even deserve 1 start horriblee. I love peruvian food but this place was a fail.. They should learn the meaning of customer service. And learn how to treat people.

Have been here multiple times over several years and the food is consistently great. Usually I'm there for lunch and I have a special with ceviche as a starter and, generally fish for a main course. I've tried a few different preparations and they are always good-- never dry or fishy. The seafood soup is also incredible. Atmosphere is just ok, but you won't mind when you taste the food.

We ate a Malulo's based on the reviews here at Yelp. As stated in previous reviews don't let the location (strip mall) or decor disturb you. The ceviche was top notch, we shared one order for the table and in retrospect I would go back and simply eat multiple orders in short it is excellent. The hot sauce served on the side (at our request) was an excellent compliment to the tangy and refreshing chilled fish. The server (the owner I think) was extremely friendly and very welcoming, he also offered menu suggestions when we asked. One of our party had the fish stuffed with scallops and shrimp and cheese melted over the top, which was a big thumbs up. After the ceviche another in our party (a light eater) ordered a scallop appetizer served in the shell with cheese melted over the top as well which was well received. I had a dish that reminded me of Paella. It was seasoned rice with mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, squid and fish chunks) very tasty and a very generous portion. We split a desert a creme brulee custard which was good but not great. I would actually give the restaurant 4.5 stars, the atmosphere is rather diner like and very casual. I will certainly go back and may just order a couple of orders of ceviche although the entrees were very good as well.

We were just driving through the area and "Yelped" for a place to eat and saw Malulu's right away, realizing it was Peruvian (the best food in the world-our opinion). We picked the right place. Great selection and great taste. Our son and his girlfriend were with us, and they live in Chile, and Malulu's made them feel right at home!

  • James J.

Best restaurant I've eaten at in years. Food is amazing. Everything I picked was amazing both times I went. The chefs daughter was our server and explained her father would not allow anyone else but himself to cook so this explains why the food is always consistently good. The chef really should own an upscale restaurant somewhere but I would be sad because the prices would go up.

Great ceviche!! Many diners of Peruvian origin was the first tip off that this place had authentic food. I took my 85 year old mother and her 91 year old cousin from John Knox village and they both enjoyed the food and the place. Very understated and not noisy...they wanted a restaurant where you could have a conversation. The waiter was incredibly helpful and very accommodating when my two guests wanted to share a meal. I would highly recommend this place and plan to return on my next trip to pompano. The octopus ceviche was outstanding.

I try go to this little restaurant whenever I come to this part of town. It is a cozy little place with excellent fresh seafood, so much better than the "by the water" places. Very friendly staff as well. We will definitely be back to this Peruvian Restaurant.

Food is fantastic, service is excellent! Highly recommended. First time to try Squid Ink Risotto, my friend doesn't really like it but I do like it. The seafood soup is awesome, must try! Ceviche mixto is good with some spicy sauce (it's hot!!). Love their Peruvian corn, sweet and chewy!!

The food was okay. I had the pollo and the cilantro rice. It was flavor filled, but for an appetizer I had papas y queso sauce eh. It felt and tasted can made or derived from a can. Service was slightly mediocre, however nonetheless he brought us our food. Just not attentive, and that's a pet peeve of mine. We also had the calamari and my friend was highly disappointed, it was let's say uneventful. Let's not mention the mixed seafood rice concoction. It tasted like flour simply deep fried. It lacked a certain savory undertone I personally seeking in a Peruvian restaurant with such high marks! The flavors were lacking the pizzazz that I hoped for. The menu is vast, and it's pricey for what I believe they offer but I'll give this place a second chance maybe all three points will be better: Service, Food and weather ( it was pouring cats and dogs)

Within the past year we seem to have had a plethora of Peruvian restaurants opening with a good number of them closing, such as Flavors of Peru, within months after opening. Malulo's Seafood has however been around for some time and if you happen to stop by for a meal, the reasons for it continuing in business become rather obvious. The menu is not only a complete but extraordinarily large as well as all encompassing for a Peruvian restaurant. The help staff is courteous and in a very helpful way suggestive as to your best food choices. Though located in what is a somewhat shabby strip mall on East Atlantic, clean, organized, well run and with a rather tasteful though simple décor about it. Being one who invariably seeks out the unique in food items, I opted for the octopus done in a Peruvian black olive based cream sauce and was delighted not only with the tenderness of the sliced octopus but with the savory flavors of the black olive cream sauce which blended well with the octopus. For my entrée I went for their deep fried fish and seafood with a zesty raw onion type of relish (for lack of a better word) topping, which came out to be a heaping plate full, more than I would have expected and also very good. Better yet, there is a sort of a family, friendly neighborhood feel about the place. I'm certainly not an expert on Peruvian foods, but I do know enough to say that the foods served here are basically all just about as authentic Peruvian as you can find anywhere.

Everything here was delicious. I did not love the pink sauce on the causa -too sweet - and the pisco sours weren't the best. But I will still give them 5 stars because they were very accommodating, and the ceviche, tiradito, and grilled seafood were absolutely to die for. I am still thinking about the grilled seafood. Some of the best I've ever had. The portions are generous, and the grilled octopus was very tender and with a delicious smokey flavor from the seasonings. We are here on vacation, and I would love to go back again today and have the same meal all over again if my family would let me! My husband is from Peru, and I have eaten some very good Peruvian food in restaurants, or at homes prepared by family and friends. I also prepare Peruvian food at home quite often. We had friends with us when going to Malulo's who had never eaten Peruvian food, and they absolutely loved it. My husband ordered the seco, and our friends had lomo saltado and tacu tacu. Everyone loved their food. The children all had chicken (there is no salchipapa here), and they enjoyed their dishes as well. This is a great Peruvian restaurant I would highly recommend.

I am not a fan of chain places with frozen food or non chefs at a mark up price. So when i was planning a night out in Boca I looked for a place in Broward to eat a good meal. This is what I choose for ROMANCE ? bad call When your the only people in the place thats a sign. I walked in an wasnt even spoken too another sign. I wanted to walk out but figured lets try it even thou the place had some 80's radio station on playing music that had no business in there with the 1988 radio speakers on 10. What was even worse was the owner or chef maybe in the corner watching some bad action movie with sound cranked up with gun shots going off.... real romantic night out you know. Order the food that was over prices compared to Miami prices for the same food. Fried rice seafood mix was like they opened a microwave and warmed rice and added some luke warm seafood, The ceviche was now just a side cause they was nothing special to the dish compared to all the other places that toss seafood around in lime juice. Three workers in the entire place and not one said hello or thank you... the south florida way. Do yourself a favor and walk out when the place is empty thats a sign. 35.00 wasted. YELP isnt always right.

I decided to try this place on the recommendation of the many fans on Yelp. The service and the service lived up to the hype. The big turn off for me - the lack of patrons on a Friday evening. However the very pleasant server made me feel welcome and I quickly forgot how empty the place was. We had the shrimp ceviche which was outstanding. I had the jalea and my friend had the churrasco. I must say that the jalea was good but not as good as others I've had and the churrasco was okay but certainly not the cut of beef I know to be churrasco. I was only in town for the weekend for a beach get away and made the drive to check this place out. No real regrets but I'd likely give another place a try when in the area rather than revisit. Worth it if you are a ceviche fan.

Visited recently to try a different Peruvian restaurant in SFL. Friday night, expected a more bustling activity going into the weekend. Our Waiter Hans was very helpful in making suggestions, although I came with a preconceived idea of what I wanted to try. Service from Hans was very good. He appeared very attentive to our needs. Tried their Mixed Ceviche and was impressed. We have tried a lot of Ceviche in the Miami area, and I must say that Malulos is one of if not the best I've had. The Tacu was also delectable. Great tasting and filling, if you're really hungry. Serving portion was good. It was a great Dining experience in Peruvian cuisine. Will definitely be back

Our family went here for dinner, mostly because of great reviews from Yelp. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Fort Lauderdale. They have the standard kids menu: chicken nuggets or fish nuggets with fries, which is a bonus for the picky eater in our family. But my husband and I came here for the seafood. My husband ordered Tamalito Verde, which is sort of like tamales, except the masa is green, mixed in with cilantro, we were told later by the nice and friendly waiter. I am not normally into tamales, but I had a little bite, it was wonderful. I ordered the Ceviche Mixto and I was in heaven. Clearly the best ceviche I have had so far. The seafood was fresh. The calamari, fish chunks, and shrimps tasted perfectly, swimming in the mixture of lime juice and powdered peppers, called Tiger's Milk. I could have just eaten two servings of ceviche for dinner. But for dinner, I ordered the grilled fish. It was not the best grilled fish. The waiter suggested that I put some of the Tiger Milk on the fish and it made the fish taste a lot better. I wish we could go back here every day and eat all of our meals here.

Found this restaurant on Yelp, and the ratings were pretty much on. Service was good and very helpful in choosing what to eat. We started with his suggestions which was a Ceviche of raw fish marinated in lemon juices. Along with aTamalito Veride which was corn dough with chicken. Very interesting dish. Me and my wife seem to like the raw fish better than sushi. My main dish was fried fish with shrimp and Crabmeat sauce which I loved and ate like I never saw food..... House wine which was from Chile Cab/Sauv was OK. I am still a california guy when it comes to wines. I would go back....

Went there with our usual Friday "Orphans Four" group luncheon and we found this place on Yelp. The food was decent and the place (except that my Empinada was ice cold in the center....but they did replace it immeditately). Our server was friendly and made some good recommendations..... the food quantity was very generous and there was no need to drive thru Mickey Dees on the way home! If we lived closer and craved Peruvian food we would be back!

Amazing paella. Great home made spicy sauces. Starters are fresh and memorable. I think this place serves great seafood along with great service. I'm not too fond of their desserts. You can order for take out too and the portions are big enough so everyone can sample your plate, trust me you will want to try everything on the menu.

Had lunch at Malulo's about 3 pm. This was as good as I've heard and read. I've become a fan of Peruvian food in recent years. It's an eclectic blend of Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Inca flavors. We had the $13 Marinero lunch specials; choose one appetizer and one entree. I had the Cevichito as my starter and the Chaufa de Mariscos for my main dish. The ceviche came with a delicious sweet potato cake and consisted of 5 ounces of white fish (ceviCHITO is a misnomer) bathed in fresh lime juice, red onions, and whole-kernel corn, which reminds me I must mention the complementary Cancha (fried corn) with pink Rocoto (Red Chile) Cream sauce. I could eat that by the pound. My entree was a heaping portion of fried rice with egg, shrimp, calamari (both tentacles and rings), scallops, chunks of fish, and a mussel in the shell. Like the other dishes, this one needed no extra seasoning. I ate the whole thing. Five hours and two workouts later I'm still overly full. My mother-in-law had the Tamalito, a green tamale (masa with cilantro puree) with chicken. Her entree was the Lomo Saltado, the beef dish with red onions, vegetables, and white rice. I don't eat beef but the ladies said it was excellent. And this is a seafood restaurant. My wife had the Conchitas en Parmesan, three scallops in the shell baked under a mound of cheese. Very good. For her entree, she chose Jalea de Mariscos, a pile of crisply fried seafood proteins; scallops, calamari, shrimp, fish, and one mussel again. It was topped with a Pico de Gallo-like salsa. Excellent. Note that the lunch entrees are the same size as most dinner entrees anywhere else. The $13 lunch special is a great economic getaway for the serious foodie, but we're going back specifically for the $16 helping of ceviche and to try their risotto. Negatives? None really. We went in the down time and were the only table. A little marketing could bring in more people who would be indelibly and immediately branded after trying this food. Nonetheless, Malulo's, a mom-and-pop restaurant, shows that you can still build it the old fashioned way.

I took some foodie friends to lunch here in May and it was enjoyed by all. Their $13 lunch specials include an appetizer (ceviche is an option, and I took it!) plus a main course. Lots of other menu items to choose from too. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and most importantly: the seafood tasted fresh and all of our meals had a very authentic and homemade appeal. After many minutes of indecision, I opted for the ceviche and my main course, shrimp fried rice. This ceviche cured my craving: a bountiful helping of fish, other sea critters, lime juice, onion (just the right amount), and cilantro. Who would have guessed fried rice would make the lunch list, but there it was, and there I was, Ms. Curiosity, and I gave in to temptation. Glad I tried it... it was enough for a second meal later in the day. May I suggest you try their hot sauce too, it's really special. Don't judge this place by its exterior appearance or location - - you'll find it on the north side of Atlantic Blvd. and east of Dixie Highway with plenty of easy parking for your convenience- - or you will miss out on a tasty adventure that will transport you to a faraway land- specifically Peru. I still dream going back for more ceviche, and attempted to take a friend there for dinner on a Wednesday evening (around 8pm) in June but they were closed. I'll be back and Yelps: I must recommend this little taste of Peruvian paradise to all!

We found this restaurant on Yelp while trying to find a restaurant that was a little different than the norm and within the vacinity of our hotel. The restaurant itself is nothing special, but the food is very good. We had the ceviche and it was outstanding. I can't remember what other dishes we had (because I am writing this after the fact), but I do know that everything we got was very good and seemed authentic, though we specifically ordered the peruvian specialties. The portions were fairly large too. We probably could have just gotten the ceviche and been good with that. Btw, there seemed to be many local peruvians eating there, that is always a good sign!

Fine restaurant. Peruvian food is very good, and Malulo's is best we've had. Try the Octopus... not cheap but their food is incredibly flavorful with lots of reduction. Try Malulo's for good food.

I read the reviews, went, and they are right! This is the real deal: great food, friendly family restaurant, reasonable prices. The ceviche is the best I've had including in Mexico and Costa Rica. Suggestions from the owner/waiter were right on target. Everything was fresh and tasty - including the seafood risotto (as good as I've had in Italy). We'll be back!

I have been coming here for years. Incredibly fresh seafood and the best ceviche in town. This year is their 8th year in business and I hope they continue to provide incredible food to everyone in the community for many years to come. Oh yeah and before I forget...the service is incredible.

Food was delicious... Perfect portion. We were the only people in the place when we went but that just allowed us to have personal service. Loved it! The ceviche was perfectly cooked. The Ahi de Gallina was delicious! Location is so so but it was worth the drive. Will come again!

Awesome. Just awesome. Do not be turned away by the uninviting strip mall location. This place is outstanding. The server was also great explaining things to us. The lunch specials were reasonably priced and so satisfying. Ceviche, fried yuca, yum.... Ask for the rocoto and aji sauce if you like it SPICY!

We came in here wanting sea food and we were not disappointed. The food was very good. The portions were huge, enough for 2-3 people easily. It seems like they have a lot of regulars come in and act like they own the place. Other than that, excellent place to try out.

As Peruvian food goes in South Fla, this place is tops. No frills decor, but the food is tops. Try the Yuquitas Rellenas, which is yucca root stuffed with fresh cheese, served with huancaina dipping sauce. Nothing wrong with that. Lomo Saltido is delicious here, and their Picarones are especially good.

    (5)
  • Michael y.

Muy delicioso!!!!! We had the chaufa Mariscos, peruvian beer and Picarones for desert. I can't believe the amount of food they give, the quality, and the value. Authentic peruvian. Will definitely repeat! i give this a 4plus, i will be back for follow-up on some different dishes.

  • LowellLochs L.

This is a great place, I recommend it to everyone. This place had a good variety of Peruvian dishes; some plain and some with very tasty sauces. There were many choices of seafood. Peruvian food is only spicy if you want it to be, only a couple of dishes were labeled as hot. One person had the Paella - he said it was excellent. One person had the grilled Swai (fish) with Yuca and I had the fried Swai with sweet potato. Again - excellent dishes. Appetizer - we had the seafood empanadas and they were huge. Malulo's is a small place with about 20 to 25 tables, family owned, with very attentive wait staff.

Married in Peru, to a partial Peruvian--I know from Peruvian food. This is the real deal, with wonderful service and fabulous Pisco sours. Don't be put off by the outside of this place, yes it is a strip mall. But like the old saw about a book and cover, it is what is inside. The ceviche absolutely the best I've had outside of in Lima, Peru (where I was in October this past year). We rolled out happily full and delighted.

This is a really great food experience- the waiter/member of the family who run the restaurant was pleasant and knowledgeable. He helped us chose an appetizer to share and described the entrees perfectly. The food was memorable in taste and gorgeously presented. Don't be put off by the strip mall. All the seafood was perfectly cooked ie not overcooked. We'll definitely go again

  • Dul L.

Terrible service! We had to leave, the server expected us to eat on top of the previous people spills, literally, he didn't even brushed the food crumbs. And when I did it myself, he put that same napkin in one of the clean plates! If he is THAT dirty, in front of us, I don't want to imagine the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and run from a tummy ache. I really don't care how tasty everybody says it is. If I'm going to pay twenty dollars for a plate, I expect at least to get a clean tablecloth. A shame!
